A cylinder head is a part of the engine that rises above the engine block. The cylinder head holds the combustion chambers, which is where the fuel air mix is compressed by a piston and ignited from a spark from a spark plug. This provides the power to drive the car. The cylinder head may also have valves. Mechanisms in the cylinder heads let the valves open and close so the fuel air mixture can be let into the cylinders and the burnt and used gases let out. Spark plugs are inserted into the side of the cylinder head.
